Policy
Privacy
Draft: written from what the atlas does, to be reviewed by a lawyer before payments start.
This policy explains what Akhil Raj Santhosh, an individual based in Bengaluru, India ("we") collects when you use SmartMaps India, why, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- Nothing to look at the map. You can use every free feature without an account.
- Your account, if you sign in: the name, email address or mobile number that Google or your phone gives Firebase Authentication (Google), which handles signing in.
- Your plan: which plan, its dates and payment status, and Razorpay's references. Razorpay processes payments; we never receive your card or UPI details.
- Places you watch, to send you alerts, and your module layout, to show it on your devices.
- Visits: which features are used, counted with Google Analytics only if you allow it; you can turn it off on the map. Places you look at are never sent.
- Messages you send from the contact page or by email: your name, email address and what you write, used only to reply and kept no longer than needed.
- Your location: only when you press "Near me", rounded to about 1 km and used to move the map. It is not stored.
Why
To sign you in, give you the plan you paid for, send receipts, alerts and service messages, answer you, and improve the atlas. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who processes it
Google (Firebase Authentication, Analytics, hosting), Cloudflare (servers and database) and Razorpay (payments), each under its own terms and only for these purposes. Data may be stored outside India by these providers.
How long
Account and plan records are kept while your account exists; payment records as long as tax and accounting law requires after that.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or erase your personal data, or withdraw consent, by writing to hello@smartmaps.in. Grievance officer: Akhil Raj Santhosh, hello@smartmaps.in. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
