The atlas
What is the atlas?
A map of India that shows the numbers for any place you pick: a state, a district, a Lok Sabha or assembly seat, and in Kerala every taluk, local body and village. Tap a place and you see its people, economy, seats and representatives, land notices, roads, schools, health and more, for every year from 2011 to today.
Is it free?
Yes. Everything anyone shares with you opens in full, and every place, module and map layer is free to look at. The paid plans add the work around the answers: drawing your own areas with every figure, survey numbers in land notices, alerts, full details for airports and roads, exports and reports.
Does it work on my phone? Is there an app?
It works in any phone browser: the figures sit in a sheet you pull up from the bottom. An Android app built on the same design is planned.
Who makes it?
Akhil Raj Santhosh, an independent developer in Bengaluru. It is not a government website. See who makes it.
What does it cover in Kerala, and elsewhere?
All of India by state, district, Lok Sabha seat and assembly seat; in Kerala also every taluk, local body and village, in English and Malayalam. See what's in the atlas.
The numbers
Where do the numbers come from?
Official sources first: the Census of India, MoSPI's national accounts, the Election Commission, the Gazette of India, VAHAN, UDISE+, NFHS, the Airports Authority of India, and state departments such as Kerala's Directorate of Economics and Statistics. Mapped features (roads, stations, hospitals) come from OpenStreetMap. Every figure says where it comes from; see Data and sources.
Why do some figures say "modelled" or "estimate"?
Because nobody publishes that figure for that place. A district's GDP, for example, is official only where its state publishes district GDP; elsewhere we share the state's official total out by a tested method and say so. Official figures carry a ✓; estimates and projections are marked in colour.
How current is it?
Populations run to 2026 (projected after the last official count), GDP to the latest year each state has published, then India's official growth. Land notices are read from the Gazette every day; vehicles from VAHAN; OpenStreetMap features are refreshed regularly.
I found a mistake. How do I tell you?
Please do: write from the contact page with the place, the figure and the source you trust. Corrections reach everyone.
Land notices
Which notices does the atlas read?
Land notices in the Gazette of India under the National Highways, Railways, Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines, Electricity, Coal Bearing Areas and Special Economic Zones Acts, and eco-sensitive zones, matched to the villages they name.
Is my land being acquired?
The atlas tells you, free, whether a Gazette notice names your village, how many, the latest date and whether objections are open, with the notice's PDF. Whether your plot is included depends on its survey number: Pro shows the survey numbers each notice lists. Always check the Gazette notice itself, and ask a lawyer before acting.
How do alerts work?
Watch a village or place and we send you a WhatsApp and email message when a new notice names it. Alerts are coming soon: Supporter will include one place and Pro ten, and more can be added for ₹25 a month each.
Plans and payment
What do Supporter and Pro add?
Supporter (₹100 a month): every figure for areas you draw, shapes and combined areas, full details for airports, ports and roads, CSV downloads and an area report a month. Pro (₹150 a month): survey numbers in land notices, objection deadlines and project history, and unlimited reports. Paying yearly gets one month free. See Plans.
Is there a free trial?
Yes: signing up starts a 14-day Pro trial, with no card needed.
How can I pay? I live outside India.
UPI, cards, netbanking and wallets through Razorpay. NRIs can pay in US dollars or dirhams by card.
Can I cancel? Do you refund?
Cancel any time from your account; your plan runs to the end of what you paid for. See Cancellation and refunds.
We are a company. Can we license the data?
Yes: data licences, an API, election packs and custom reports start from ₹25,000. Ask for a quote.
Privacy
What do you collect?
Nothing to look at the map. If you sign in: your name, and the email or phone number you sign in with, and your plan. If you write to us: what you write and your email, to reply. Visits are counted with Google Analytics only if you allow it. See Privacy.
Do you track my location?
No. "Near me" uses your location only when you press it, rounded to about a kilometre, to move the map; it is not stored.
